Professor Nicholas A. Vovos has more than 35 years of experience in the field of academia and research, specifically in the areas of electrical and computer engineering. He has been a member of the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Patras University since 1981 and he was Head of the department in the period 2003-2007 and deputy Head in period 2001-2003. He is the Director of Power Systems Laboratory that was established in 1974. He has directed more than 20 research projects funded by industry and EU. He is a Professor at Patras University Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (Greece). He is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “International Journal of Automation and Power Engineering (IJAPE) and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Electronic Research and Application (ERA). C P Wong is the Charles Smithgall Institute Endowed Chair and Regents’ Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, and Dean of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Wong received primary and secondary education in Hong Kong and furthered his education in the US. He received his BS degree from Purdue University, and his PhD degree from the Pennsylvania State University. He received many awards, among those, the AT&T Bell Labs Fellow Award in 1992, the IEEE CPMT Society Outstanding Sustained Technical Contributions Award in 1995, the Georgia Tech Sigma Xi Faculty Best Research Paper Award in 1999, Best MS, PhD and undergraduate Thesis Awards in 2002 and 2004, respectively, the University Press (London) Award of Excellence, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal in 2000, the IEEE EAB Education Award in 2001, the IEEE CPMT Society Exceptional Technical Contributions Award in 2002, the Georgia Tech Class of 1934 Distinguished Professor Award in 2004, Outstanding Ph.D. His research interests lie in the fields of polymeric materials, electronic packaging and interconnect, interfacial adhesions, nano-functional material syntheses, Si etching and energy storage. Dr. Canakci received his B.Sc. degree from Automotive Engineering Technology, Gazi University, Ankara-Turkey, in 1989. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and Iowa State University in 1996 and 2001, respectively. After working as a Research Fellow in Engine Research Center (University of Wisconsin-Madison), he started to work as an Assistant Professor in Kocaeli University-Turkey. Currently, Dr. Canakci has been working as a Professor in Department of Automotive Engineering. He teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses related to IC engines, combustion and fuels. He has authored several publications in national and international journals, and involved in R&D projects related to alternative fuels and their usage in IC engines. Dr. Canakci’s studies have been cited more than 4750 times in Web of Science (h-index:35). Viktor Astakhov received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Tula State Polytechnic University, Tula-Moscow, Russia, in 1983. He was awarded a D.Sc. designation and title of State Professor of Ukraine in 1991. Currently, Astakhov is the tool research and application manager of General Motors Business Unit of PSMI. As a professor, he is involved in supervising of graduate students at Michigan State University. Astakhov has won a number of national and international awards for both his teaching and research. Professor dr. LPH (Philip) de Goey studied physics at the RU in Nijmegen and did his PhD in physics in Eindhoven. He then moved to Mechanical Engineering in 1990, where he was assistant professor, associate professor (1996) and full professor (2000) and finally also dean of department (2011). He was visiting professor at RWTH Aachen (1999) and at BIT (since 2011), where he is appointed as leading scientist of China’s 111 program. He is member of many boards and organisations, for instance, he is member of the board of directors of the Combustion Institute (since 2002) and secretary of the executive committee of the board of the Combustion Institute. He is editor of several journals and was co-editor-in-chief of the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute. Marcelo H. Ang, Jr. received the B.S. degrees (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering from the De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines, in 1981; the M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Un iversity of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1985; and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York, in 1986 and 1988, respectively. His work experience include heading the Technical Training Division of Intel's Assembly and Test Facility in the Philippines, research positions at the East West Center in Hawaii and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Rochester, New York. In 1989, Dr. Ang joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the National University of Singapore, where he is currently an Associate Professor. He has nine years of industrial experience at Philips Electronics North America. where he focused on research and design of Solid State Lighting Systems for automotive, indoor, and outdoor lighting applications. He is the author/coauthor of numerous publications, granted/pending patents, book chapters, technical papers, and industrial reports. Dr. Aboulnaga received the academic excellence award from Mansoura University in 1996, the outstanding academic achievement award from IIT in 2004, and innovation and technology awards from Philips Electronics yearly from 2005-2013. Dr. Aboulnaga recently joined the College of Engineering at King Faisal University, KSA, as an Electrical Engineering assistant professor.

His research interests include power electronics, electric motor drives, Class II power supplies, Automotive EMC solutions, electromagnetic integration, renewable energy resources, power quality, solid state lighting electronics, and protection and safety standards.

Dr Hao Wang received his PhD from Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2011. Dr Wang is Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and Research Affiliate of The International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). He became Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore in 2016. He has participated in multiple industrial and research projects with a consortium of aerospace companies and precision machining laboratories in the UK, Germany, and Hong Kong. His research interest includes ultraprecision machining, hybrid manufacturing, and novel surface finishing technologies aiming to provide innovative solutions to the critical engineering problems of advanced manufacturing.

Janus Juul Rasmussen is the Founder and CEO of the Danish engineering consulting firm Valcon Design A/S. He is a Mechanical Engineer that has worked with product design for more than 15 years as an expert within the field of kinematics and moving mechanics. He has developed the Six Theta(r) Design methodology and has a close co-operation with the Robust Design Academy at the Technical University of Denmark.

Dr. Subhash Rakheja received a PhD in mechanical engineering from Concordia University. He joined the National Research Council soon after graduation and faculty in Concordia as a Research Assistant Professor. He became Associate Professor in 1989 and Professor in 1994. He is a research chair in Vehicular Ergo-dynamics in Concordia University. He was also honored with the title of the University Research Fellow in 2005. Dr. Rakheja is a fellow of the CSME and of the ASME. He is the editor of the International Journal of Industrial ergonomics and International Journal of Vehicle Performance and associate editor of the SAE Journal of Commercial Vehicles and the International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems. He continues to serve in the Canadian Advisory Council on International Standards. He has won the SAE Arch T. Colwell Merit Award, Alice Hamilton Award from Center for Disease Control (USA) and Liberty Mutual Award.

His research expertise includes advanced transportation systems and highway safety, human responses to workplace vibration and driver-vehicle interactions.

After receiving PhD in Metallurgical Engineering in 1987, Dr. Sediako career extended over 30 years of R&D in steel, aluminum, and magnesium metallurgy. In his current research at the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories he is utilizing unique properties of neutrons, allowing direct stress measurements and phase analysis inside metal parts and components. He collaborates extensively with a number of automotive manufacturers, both OEMs and Tier 1, enabling new alloys development, stress analysis, and technology optimization for the most challenging applications. A specific focus of his research is stress analysis in cylinder block and engine head, as well as in situ studies of solidification and high temperature creep in new aluminum and magnesium alloys’ development. Dr. Sediako is an author of more than 170 articles and a licensed Professional Engineer. In 2014 he was inducted into the Fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Dr. Kadir AYDIN was born in 1962 at Afyonkarahisar in Turkey. He received his B.Sc. degree in 1983 and M.Sc. degree in 1986 from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Cukurova University. He completed his Ph.D. degree in 1993 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Liverpool University. He became Assistant Professor in 1993, Associate Professor in 1995 and Professor in 2001 in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Cukurova University. Dr. Craig J. Hoff, professor of Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in automotive powertrains (conventional, hybrid electric, fuel cell), in-vehicle data acquisition, design for the environment, and thermal and mechanical design. When returning from the Formula SAE competition in 2002, his team leader mentioned that he rode a horse to his school as a child. At first the group thought he was just kidding, but it turned out that he regularly rode his horse to his one-room school house. The team was quite amazed to hear this about someone so young, but it goes to show that Kettering attracts students from all kinds of places.

He joined the National Research Council soon after graduation and faculty in Concordia as a Research Assistant Professor. He became Associate Professor in 1989 and Professor in 1994. He is a research chair in Vehicular Ergo-dynamics in Concordia University. He was also honored with the title of the University Research Fellow in 2005. Dr. Rakheja is a fellow of the CSME and of the ASME. He is the editor of the International Journal of Industrial ergonomics and International Journal of Vehicle Performance and associate editor of the SAE Journal of Commercial Vehicles and the International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems. Dr. Craig J. Hoff, professor of Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in automotive powertrains (conventional, hybrid electric, fuel cell), in-vehicle data acquisition, design for the environment, and thermal and mechanical design. To Hoff, Kettering students are motivated and have the know-how to work in a professional environment. It sets them apart from others, who are lost when they first enter the work place. Hoff enjoys working with students that go above and beyond and truly want to make things happen. "This was the place to be to teach automotive engineering." When returning from the Formula SAE competition in 2002, his team leader mentioned that he rode a horse to his school as a child. At first the group thought he was just kidding, but it turned out that he regularly rode his horse to his one-room school house. The team was quite amazed to hear this about someone so young, but it goes to show that Kettering attracts students from all kinds of places.

Professor dr. LPH (Philip) de Goey studied physics at the RU in Nijmegen and did his PhD in physics in Eindhoven. He was visiting professor at RWTH Aachen (1999) and at BIT (since 2011), where he is appointed as leading scientist of China’s 111 program. He is member of many boards and organisations, for instance, he is member of the board of directors of the Combustion Institute (since 2002) and secretary of the executive committee of the board of the Combustion Institute. Dr. Raghu Echempati, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, is a native of India. He received his Bachelors (1970), Masters (1972) and Ph.D. (1978) all in Mechanical Engineering. Hussein Mouftah joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Ottawa in 2002 as a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair Professor, where he became a University Distinguished Professor in 2006. He has been with the ECE Dept. at Queen's University (1979-2002), where he was prior to his departure a Full Professor and the Department Associate Head. He has six years of industrial experience mainly at Bell Northern Research of Ottawa (Nortel Networks). He is the author or coauthor of 10 books, 65 book chapters and more than 1400 technical papers, 14 patents and 143 industrial reports. He is the joint holder of 20 Best/Outstanding Paper Awards. Professor Mike Blundell is internationally known for his work on vehicle dynamics and crash simulation. He has been at Coventry University since 1991 and has over 30 years of experience in academia and industry. Prior to joining the University he held a number of posts with companies and institutions such as Boeing. His activities continue to be diverse but he is most well known for his work in the automotive design areas that encompass vehicle dynamics, tyre modelling, vehicle structures and crash and pedestrian impact. He has also worked nationally with the Niche Vehicle industry and on major European projects investigating helicopter crash protection. He is the co-author of the vehicle dynamics text book “The Multibody Dynamics Approach to Vehicle Dynamics” and has more than 130 academic publications. Yannick Perez was born in 1971 and took his Master's degree and PhD in economics at University La Sorbonne in France. He became assistant professor at University de Cergy (2000-2003) and tenured associate professor of Economics at University Paris-Sud (since 2003). Dr. Rakan Chabaan is a Research and Controls Specialist at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles since October 2011. Previously, he was the chairman of the Electrical Department in the College of Engineering and Associate Professor at PMU. Dr. Chabaan received his Ph.D. in robust control system from Wayne State University in December 2000. Dr. Chabaan worked at Ford Motor Company Michigan, USA for 14 years, where his last position was a Technical Specialist of Research and Development of Electrical Steering Systems. Dr. Chabaan received 14 patents in Electric Steering and Vehicle Simulator controls. Dr. Chabaan has published more than 50 peer reviewed papers both journal & conferences and received over Five achievement and technology awards. Gordana has held senior R&D and management roles in UK companies, including the position of Technical Manager for European Operations of a stock exchange-listed Singaporean company until 1999, when she moved to academia. She worked at Kingston University London as Associate Professor, contributing to a range of industry related developments in the field of Embedded Systems implementation, as a member of the University Industrial Control Research Group and academic developments in the role of Course Director for MSc Mechatronic Systems and MSc Automotive Engineering. Her enthusiasm and commitment to providing an exceptional student experience resulted in starting up a range of extra-curricular activities, including the Kingston’s Formula Student e-racing team. Gordana’s national profile includes serving on the IET Degrees Accreditation Panel. In 2014 she moved to the Mechanical and Mathematics department at Oxford Brookes to take on the role of the Programme Lead for Postgraduate Taught provision in Mechanical Engineering, including world-class Master programme in Motorsport Engineering.
